What Is The Difference Between Metal Stud And Metal Track?

Here are some additional points of knowledge about partition wall systems:

  • Partition wall type: in the indoor space, the form of the secondary structure wall mainly has 3 types: lightweight block, light steel keel, and steel frame.
  • Steel frame wall: steel frame partition wall can be divided into main wall and attached wall according to the use function. The main wall is an independent load-bearing wall, and the attached wall is the wall that is attached to the concrete or masonry wall outside.
  • Waterproofing treatment: any room with water needs waterproofing treatment, and the height of the waterproofing treatment varies according to the function of the room.
  • Light steel keel partition wall: light steel keel partition wall has the characteristics of light weight, high strength, good fire resistance, versatility and easy installation.
  • Construction process: the construction process of light steel keel partition wall includes the steps of bouncing line, staging, fixing the keel along the top and the ground, installing the vertical keel, and installing the door and window frames.
  • Sound insulation materials: the commonly used sound insulation materials in the partition wall system include glass wool, mineral wool board, rock wool board, etc., which are selected according to the design requirements.

In construction, metal stud and metal track are two different elements that are commonly used in lightweight steel keel partition wall systems. metal stud is a C-shaped lightweight steel element that is typically used in the vertical direction to form a support structure for a partition wall or wall lining. Metal track, on the other hand, is U-shaped and is typically used horizontally as the top and bottom framing of a partition wall.

Specifically:

Metal studs are the vertical members of the light steel keel system, often referred to as C Studs. They are made from galvanized steel coils into a C-shaped section by a roll forming machine and then cut to different lengths as required. These studs act as a support in the partition wall system and can carry a certain amount of weight.

Metal track is the horizontal element of the light steel keel system, often referred to as U Track, which is also made of galvanized steel but is U-shaped and is used to secure and connect the columns to form the top and bottom borders of the partition wall.

In non-load bearing walls and some internal walls, half walls and partitions, lighter gauge metal columns are usually used. In structural applications such as load-bearing walls and exterior walls, heavier gauge metal columns are used. The combination of metal rails and columns provides a cost-effective, easy-to-install solution for the construction of non-load-bearing partitions.
